Library Tips for New Students

Make use of the library’s services from the very beginning of your studies. Welcome to LUC Library!

We have four different libraries in three cities: Kemi, Rovaniemi, and Tornio.

Which of our libraries is closest to you?

We are here to help you at the library customer service. You can also reach us via chat, email and phone. In addition, you can book an appointment with customer service. Find out more about our services.

Are you studying remotely?

You can access the library’s extensive electronic resources by logging in to LUC-Finna with your university’s credentials. We also offer a variety of online services.

You can make use of the libraries and collections in your local area. You can borrow books from other libraries, including LUC Library, through your local library. Ask your local library to order the book for you and check the service fee at the same time. You can browse the collections of different libraries through the Finna.fi service.

Opening Hours and Self-Service Access

You can find up-to-date opening hours in LUC-Finna and Tuudo. Any exceptions will be announced separately.

With an access control token (STid), you can enter the library when it is closed. If you have any problems, you can get help from campus services. You can find more information about access control and campus opening hours on the websites of Lapland University of Applied Sciences or the University of Lapland.

Library Card

Your library card can be found in Tuudo. You can use it to borrow materials and conveniently renew your loans. Tuudo also allows you to view your reservations and quickly check library opening hours. Therefore, be sure to download Tuudo to your phone. Read more about loan services.

Getting Started with Information Searching

• In LUC-Finna, you can search for printed and e-books, databases, journals, and much more. When you log in to LUC-Finna, you can place reservations and renew your loans.

• We will organize info sessions on various topics during the autumn semester—join us on Teams!
• You can also book an appointment for information retrieval guidance.

Make Use of Our Library Spaces

We offer spaces for both individual and group study. Rooms can also be reserved through Tuudo.
