Read what kind of feedback we received last year and what actions we took as a result.
We receive feedback in many different situations in the library, including in person. Thank you for both praise and criticism – all feedback is forwarded and carefully reviewed. If contact details are provided, we reply personally to the sender. For anonymous feedback, we publish a summary three times a year – this is the first one.
Feedback is reviewed regularly in meetings. Both small and big ideas often serve as starting points for changes that improve how the library operates. Without input from our users, many problems might go unnoticed – and many good practices might never emerge.
Library spaces are one of the most common themes in feedback. Usability and comfort are important, and we work on them continuously. In recent years, many large and small improvements have been made in our libraries, with user feedback playing a key role.
One concrete improvement has been the development of workspace bookings. Through Tuudo, you can now book Kammi and Paljakka group work rooms at University Library. The maximum booking time is two hours per week. These limits were introduced based on user feedback.
At Kosmos Library, the reservable silent study rooms are Soppi 1, 2 and 3.
Students from both universities can book workspaces in either library. Not all workspaces can be booked via Tuudo. If a workspace is not bookable, you may use it if it is free.
Minerva Library is now open to everyone whenever the campus is open. Its opening hours have been clarified in LUC-Finna at the request of users. Also based on user feedback, people other than students and staff can now pick up their reservations from Minerva Library.
Especially at University Library, users have suggested introducing reservable book carts for storing their own materials and belongings. Unfortunately, we currently do not have enough space to offer this service. However, there are lockable storage lockers on campus – campus services can provide more information.
We regularly receive feedback about library lighting. Large-scale lighting solutions require time and planning. The lighting in Minerva Library has recently been improved based on user feedback.
Our users need a variety of spaces: quiet study areas, group work rooms, and relaxed spaces where you can read newspapers or even put together a jigsaw puzzle.
Kosmos Library and University Library are divided into sound zones. In the red zones, people work quietly. In the blue zones, conversation is allowed, while being considerate of others. Devices should be kept on silent throughout the library.
Please respect the sound zones to help create a pleasant space for everyone.
The option to buy printing credit online is frequently requested. This has been investigated several times, but so far no cost-effective solution has been found for the current printing volumes.
It is great to see how much positive feedback we receive about our services, collections, facilities and staff expertise. It energizes our daily work and reminds us of the library’s important role in studying, working and everyday life.
Your feedback never goes to waste — it makes a difference.
