Shorter opening hours in summer

We are switching to summer mode on June 2. That means shorter opening hours. All
our libraries and services will be closed for Midsummer and from June 30 to August 3.
We will be back with normal hours in August.

You can always find the latest news and daily opening hours on LUC-Finna. Follow us
on Facebook and Instagram to catch the latest updates.

Use the library independently

With your access badge you can use the library even when it is closed. Make sure your
badge is working ahead of time.

You will find more info about access control on the websites of Lapland University of
Applied Sciences or the University of Lapland, or in the Tuudo app.

Order your books now – summer delivery break is coming

Book deliveries will be on a break from June 19 to August 3. During that time, you will not be able to request materials between libraries. However, you can still place holds on items that are currently on loan as usual.

If you need books for summer or want to get ready for the fall, now is the time to order.

Longer loan periods in summer

When you borrow or renew books during the summer, the due date will be moved to
August. Check the exact due date on LUC-Finna of in the Tuudo app.

You can also return books during the summer

When the library is closed, you can return books in the outdoor return boxes.

The return boxes will not be emptied from June 30 to August 3. So your loans will be
removed from your account with a delay. You may receive overdue notices, but no late
fees will be charged during this period.

Return boxes are located at:

• In Kemi, at the Q door of Kosmos building
• In Rovaniemi, at the main door of the A-wing of the University of Lapland
• In Tornio, at the E door of Minerva building

Please do not return books by mail during the summer closure.

Chat is on break

The chat service will be on a break from June 30 to August 3.

Lauda and Theseus

You can upload bachelor’s theses and master’s theses during the summer, but it will be
reviewed and published only in August.

When saving your thesis to Theseus, remember to save the URN link of your thesis for
Wihi. Please note that the link will only work after the thesis has been published.

Acquisition suggestions and interlibrary loans

Submit acquisition requests also during the summer via the online form. Acquisition requests received during the summer break will be processed in August.

Submit interlibrary loan requests using the online form. Requests will be processed in August.

Please do not return interlibrary loans by mail during the summer closure.

The research and R&D services are on summer break

The research and R&D services of the library are on holiday from June 30 to August 3

Main cash desk

University of Lapland’s main cash desk, located in University Library, will be closed from June 30 to August 3.
