
Facilities and equipment
The library has four units in three different cities. We offer comfortable customer facilities with workstations, reading rooms and lounges.
Customer facilities
We have facilities for different needs. Some are suitable for working in a group. We also offer facilities where you can focus on your studies in peace.
Kosmos Library and University Library are divided into sound zones. Zones help you choose a suitable space.

Red: Quiet area. In this area, you will work alone. Keep your phone and other devices on silent. If necessary, use headphones.
Blue: Working area. In this area, you can work alone or in a group. Discussion is allowed, but be considerate of other users of the premises. Keep your phone and other devices on silent. If necessary, use headphones.
Book a workspace in Tuudo
Bookable facilities are available in Kosmos Library and University Library.
The bookable facilities of Kosmos Library are intended for quiet, solo work. The workstations have a computer, a screen and an electric desk. You can find the facilities in Tuudo under the names Soppi 1, Soppi 2, Soppi 3a and Soppi 3b.
On the second floor of the University Library, there are bookable group work rooms. The premises have large screens, adjustable lighting and versatile furnishings. You can find the facilities in Tuudo under the name Kammi and Paljakka. Kammi can accommodate 12 people and Paljakka 8.
Wireless network and devices
The library uses the wireless network Eduroam. Visitors can access the Guest network. See general instructions for using a wireless network – LUC-IT Service Portal.
All locations have an MFP that allows you to copy, print and scan. Printing is possible from all computers in the library. You can also print from your own laptop.
Printing and copying are subject to a fee. You can buy printing credits from the library’s customer service. See also the printing instructions – LUC-IT Service Portal.

Borrow devices
You can borrow the following from the library
– laptop
– bluetooth-speaker
– recorder
– an external DVD drive
Check availability and loan periods in LUC-Finna. Return the device to the location where you borrowed it.
Self-service use
As a student of Lapland University of Applied Sciences and the University of Lapland, you can also use the library’s facilities outside service hours. Minerva Library is a self-service library with no staff at all.
For self-service use, you will need an access control ID (STid). Please notice that access permit policies vary from campus to campus.
