We compiled the most important tips for uploading thesis to Theseus. Our general guideline is: Upload your thesis to Theseus on time.

The library processes and publishes your thesis after it is saved. Especially during peak hours, the delay between uploading and publishing can be up to a week.

  • Read the instructions. You can find them on
  • Remove all personal data from the thesis, except for names. Do not leave phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses or other confidential information visible in the work or its attachments.
  • Name the file correctly: Surname_Firstname. If the work has more than one author: Surname_Surname_Surname. Easy!
  • Save the work in PDF/A file format. It is an archiveable pdf file format. See: Converting your thesis to a PDF file – Theseus.
  • Add an English abstract to the thesis uploading form. Copy it from your own work in the same way as the summary in Finnish. Note: When adding an abstract to the Theseus uploading form, remove any manually edited hyphenations.
  • If needed, copy the URN link for Wihi from the uploading form. Please note that the link will only work once the thesis has been published.

Good luck with the thesis process and smooth uploading moments in Theseus!
