Interlibrary loan services

Last updated: 16.6.2025

Interlibrary loan service helps when the books you need are not available at the Lapland University Consortium Library. We also provide interlibrary loan services to other libraries.

Interlibrary loans for customers

At your request, we order books or articles from Finland or abroad that you cannot find in our own collections. Interlibrary loans are usually subject to a fee. See the prices of interlibrary loans on Price list.

To order an interlibrary loan, you must be a customer of our library. Interlibrary loans and copies are not sent directly to the customer. Orders arrive for pickup at the location of your choice.

Make an interlibrary loan request using the form Interlibrary loan request.

Books ordered through the interlibrary loan service will be shown in your information in LUC-Finna. You cannot renew them yourself, but our library’s interlibrary loan service will renew them for you.

If you need archival loans from the National Archives of Finland, contact the interlibrary loan service.

National Repository Library

Interlibrary loans ordered from the Kuopio National Repository Library are free of charge for everyone. N.B! Subscriptions to the National Repository Library will be out of use until the National Repository Library’s move 08/2025.

Order a book to a local library in Lapland

You can borrow books from our library through your local library in the Lapland region. Ask your local library to order the book, and at the same time confirm the price of the service. See Service points and Contact info of the libraries in Lapland region.

  • books and textbooks in the general collection
  • copies of articles from newspapers and magazines as well as older issues to be borrowed
